Eric Meyer’s CSS Sculptor Launched
August 26, 2007 | Tags for this entry: CSS, software, web developmentAnyone who’s been working with CSS in past years will know who Eric Meyer is. In my opinion, he is the Grandfather and pioneer of CSS design as we know it today. A great portion of the techniques I’ve used in advanced CSS for layout (formerly known as CSS-P… remember that, guys?) were born or derived from his site, Meyerweb.com and his experiments at his CSS/Edge site.
Fast forward to 2007. Eric Meyer, in collabs with Web Assist, has just released a CSS application/plugin for Dreamweaver called CSS Sculptor. This application includes 30 standards-compliant layouts for some of the most popular design structures in today’s market. This will give you an awesome head-start in creating new sites, even if you already know CSS and just don’t feel like doing all the divving, floating, and clearing from scratch.
These layouts are simply structural templates to get your design started and are meant to be customized to your little heart’s content. So, it’s not like you’re reaching into a CD of “1,001 Awesome Web Templates” that you’ll have to hack up in order to get what you really wanted. Another cool feature is that you can use it as a place to save structural templates that you make yourself. Oh, oh, and I almost forgot— it creates screen and print stylesheets concurrently! Now that’s what I’m talking ’bout.
My take: Go check it out! There is a special introductory price right now of $99.99 that ends on September 6. I’m gonna have to grab my copy soon.
